J&K: Chinese Pistol, Suspected Narcotics Recovered Near LoC In Poonch

MENDHAR/JAMMU, May 20: Security forces recovered a bag containing a Chinese-origin pistol and suspected narcotics near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, officials said on Tuesday.

According to officials, the recovery was made during an area domination patrol in the Balakote forward area of the Mendhar sector near the LoC.

The patrol party found the bag buried near a tree during a search operation. The area was first sanitised and cleared of any possible improvised explosive devices (IEDs) or explosives before the recovery was carried out.

Officials said the recovered material included a Chinese-made pistol and several packets suspected to contain narcotics. One of the bags reportedly had “Lahore” written on it.

Security agencies have launched further investigation into the recovery, while more details are awaited. (Agencies)
