NEW DELHI, May 23: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday virtually distributed appointment letters to more than 51,000 youths selected for central government jobs under the ‘Rozgar Mela’ initiative, reiterating the government’s commitment to employment generation and youth empowerment.

Addressing the event, Modi described the occasion as an important day for thousands of young people and said the newly recruited candidates would become key partners in the country’s development journey.

“Today, more than 51,000 young people have received appointment letters for government jobs,” the Prime Minister said, adding that the recruits would take up responsibilities in sectors including railways, banking, defence, health and education.

He said the youth would play a crucial role in fulfilling the vision of a “Viksit Bharat” in the coming years and congratulated both the selected candidates and their families.

Highlighting the role of young people in India’s growth, Modi said the country’s youth were accelerating the journey towards a developed nation. “Rozgar Mela reflects our government’s commitment to empowering the Yuva Shakti with new opportunities,” he said.

The Prime Minister also said the world was increasingly looking towards India because of its young population and technological progress. “Today, the world wants to be a part of India’s development journey,” he added.

Officials said the Rozgar Mela initiative was launched in line with the government’s focus on employment generation. Since its inception, around 12 lakh appointment letters have been distributed through 18 such events held across the country.

The latest Rozgar Mela was organised at 47 locations nationwide. The newly appointed candidates, selected from different parts of the country, will join various ministries and departments, including railways, home affairs, health and family welfare, financial services and higher education, among others.
