Jammu, Jan 10: The Education Department on Saturday clarified that there will be no extension of winter vacations in the Summer Zone of Jammu, and all government and private schools will reopen for students from January 12 as per the existing academic calendar.

Officials said the clarification was issued in view of widespread speculation on social media claiming a possible extension of the winter break due to weather conditions. Terming such reports as baseless, they urged parents and students not to rely on unverified information.

According to officials, teaching staff have already resumed duties and were directed to attend schools on Saturday. Teachers are present in their respective institutions, while students are expected to report for classes from January 12.

They further stated that all necessary arrangements have been made to ensure the smooth resumption of academic activities across schools in the Summer Zone. School administrations have been instructed to strictly adhere to the notified schedule and ensure regular functioning once students return.

Education department officials reiterated that any decision regarding holidays or changes in the academic calendar would be communicated only through official channels and appealed to the public to refrain from spreading or acting on rumours.

With the clarification, the winter break in the Summer Zone of Jammu will formally conclude on January 10, and normal classwork for students will resume from January 12. (Agencies)
