LAHDC Leh celebrates Constitution Day

Leh, Nov 26, 2024: The Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Leh, celebrated Constitution Day, also known as Samvidhan Divas, at the Council Secretariat, Leh.

The event was presided over by the Hon’ble Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), LAHDC Leh, Adv. Tashi Gyalson, who was joined by Deputy Chairman Tsering Angchuk, Executive Councillors Tashi Namgyal Yakzee, Stanzin Chosphel, and Ghulam Mehdi, along with other Councillors and staff members of the Council Secretariat.

As part of the ceremony, the Hon’ble CEC, Adv. Tashi Gyalson, led the gathering in reading the Preamble to the Constitution of India, reaffirming the democratic principles and values enshrined in the document. The Preamble was read in both English and Bhoti languages, emphasizing the region’s cultural heritage and commitment to national unity.

The Hon’ble CEC also paid tribute to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the Chairman of the Drafting Committee of the Constituent Assembly, recognizing his monumental contribution to the creation of the Indian Constitution. Constitution Day is observed across India on November 26 every year to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India by the Constituent Assembly on November 26, 1949. The Constitution officially came into effect on January 26, 1950, marking a significant milestone in India’s journey as a democratic republic.
