4 Killed, 68 Injured In US Strike On Wedding Ceremony In Iran
by Northlines · NorthlinesTEHRAN, Sept 2: At least four people were killed and 68 others injured after a US military attack hit a wedding ceremony in Kuhestak in Sirik County of Iran’s southern Hormozgan province, local officials said.
Ahmad Nafisi, deputy governor of Hormozgan, confirmed that the number of injured in the attack had risen to 68. Earlier, Nafisi had reported that four people were killed in the strike.
The attack on the wedding ceremony has drawn strong condemnation from Iranian officials, with Ebrahim Azizi, head of the National Security Commission of the Iranian Parliament, warning that Iran would not allow the incident to go unpunished.
“Targeting a wedding and slaughtering innocent civilians in Kuhestak, Iran, is the ultimate proof of the utter desperation of the fake defenders of human rights,” Azizi said in a post on X, according to Sputnik.
He also referred to what he described as previous US attacks in Minab and Lamerd, and warned that the Iranian Armed Forces would respond.
The latest incident comes amid heightened tensions between Iran and the United States, with the reported strike adding to concerns over civilian casualties in military operations.
The casualty figures were provided by Iranian provincial authorities, while the circumstances surrounding the reported strike and the intended target were not immediately detailed in the report. (Sputnik/UNI)
