NEW DELHI, Dec 18: The Lok Sabha was adjourned for the day on Thursday shortly after the passage of the G RAM G Bill, following noisy protests by opposition members over its provisions.

The Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) [VB-G RAM G] Bill, 2025, which seeks to guarantee 125 days of employment annually to rural households and replace the two-decade-old MGNREGA, was passed after Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan replied to the debate.

During the minister’s concluding remarks, opposition MPs raised slogans against the government and tore copies of the Bill, creating uproar in the House. Speaker Om Birla subsequently adjourned the proceedings for the day.

A discussion on air pollution in the Delhi National Capital Region was scheduled to be taken up later in the day, with Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra expected to initiate the debate. However, the adjournment brought the day’s proceedings to an early close.

Friday marks the final day of the Winter Session of Parliament. (Agencies)
