India welcomes peace deal between Iran and the United States

NEW DELHI, June 15: India has welcomed the understanding reached between the United States and Iran to end the conflict in West Asia, expressing hope that the agreement will help restore peace, stability and economic normalcy in the region.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a social media post, said India supports efforts aimed at reducing tensions and resolving the conflict, which has caused significant economic disruption globally and resulted in the loss of lives in several countries.

He expressed hope that the implementation of the understanding would contribute to lasting peace and stability in West Asia while ensuring the freedom of navigation and uninterrupted commerce in the region.

The Prime Minister also said India looks forward to continued dialogue on the remaining issues and hopes they will be resolved through a sustainable final agreement.

The conflict in West Asia has had far-reaching consequences, affecting global trade routes, energy markets and regional security. India has consistently advocated dialogue and diplomacy as the preferred means for resolving disputes and maintaining peace in the region.
