Srinagar, May 1: The Special Crime Wing Kashmir of the Crime Branch J&K has filed a chargesheet before the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Srinagar in a multi-lakh government job fraud case, officials said on Thursday.

The chargesheet has been filed in FIR No. 09/2019 under Sections 201, 419, 420, 468, 471, and 120-B of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC) against three accused identified as Fayaz Ahmad Khan of Maloora Shalteng Srinagar, Showkat Ahmad Shah of Shanzipora Handwara, and Owais Ahmad Rather of Shalteng Khwaja Bagh.

According to officials, the case originated from a complaint by residents of Pulwama, who alleged that the accused duped them of lakhs of rupees by promising government jobs for their children and relatives.

During investigation, it was found that the accused, in criminal conspiracy, impersonated influential officials and issued forged appointment orders purportedly linked to the Forest Department. Verification later confirmed the documents were fake.

The accused are alleged to have collected substantial amounts of money in cash from victims under the pretext of securing “backdoor” government employment.

Officials said the case has now been presented before the competent court for judicial scrutiny and further proceedings.

Meanwhile, the Crime Branch has advised the public to remain alert against such frauds and report suspicious activities to the SSP Special Crime Wing Kashmir or through the department’s official email.

Authorities reiterated their commitment to strict action against those involved in job scams and to safeguarding citizens from financial exploitation.
