THE principal of Highlands College has been confirmed as the new ‘partnership lead’ for the Island’s secondary schools as part of one of the biggest ever reforms of education in Jersey.
Jo Terry-Marchant will take on her new role from September as part of a two-year-pilot scheme designed to strengthen collaboration, inclusion, and leadership across Jersey schools.
“I am delighted to take on the role of partnership lead for secondary schools,” she said.
“Collaboration is essential to improving outcomes for all young people, and I am committed to working closely with colleagues to ensure every student can access the opportunities they need to thrive, whatever their starting point.
“I am particularly looking forward to working with secondary headteachers who I have built strong partnerships with over the years and who are highly respected, dedicated, and experienced leaders.
“Together, we will continue to strengthen collaboration across our schools and build on this collective expertise to secure the very best outcomes for our pupils.”
The new school partnership model will see all non-fee-paying schools clustered into four partnerships based on existing secondary school catchment areas and their feeder primary schools.
Each partnership will be supported by a newly created partnership lead, who will work with headteachers to share expertise, staffing, and resources.
The three other partnership leads were confirmed last month. CYPES senior adviser Jo Pearce will have responsibility for town primary schools, La Moye headteacher John Baudains for east primary schools, and Les Landes headteacher Vicki Charlesworth will oversee west primary schools.
These changes are being funded through a reorganisation of education leadership roles, so will be delivered at no additional cost.
