GUERNSEY’S former chief minister has suggested the island could follow Jersey’s newly approved assisted-dying law, describing it as a “robust and workable regime”.
Gavin St Pier, who unsuccessfully proposed legalising assisted dying in Guernsey in 2018, he said Jersey had created “a model which we can copy”, the Guernsey Press reported.
He said it remained his intention to bring the issue back before Guernsey’s States during the current political term.
Jersey’s assisted-dying law received Royal Assent last week and is due to come into force in September 2027.
