A ROYAL visit has been confirmed for the last week of June, when Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, will make a two-day visit to the Island.
The Duchess will carry out a series of engagements in connection to her roles with an organisation promoting sustainable food and farming, as well as two charities she supports.
An official Government House announcement stated that in her capacity as honorary president of Linking Environment and Farming, the Royal visitor would meet representatives from Jersey’s dairy and potato industries to hear about work to balance food production, biodiversity and environmental sustainability. Similar talks will also take place with representatives of the seafood and fishing industry.
On the evening of 23 June, her first day in Jersey, the Duchess will attend a reception at Government House in support of the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, the charity which she has been a patron of since 2016.
The programme will conclude the following day with a visit to EYECAN, the charity which works to support Islanders with sight impairment and is marking its 140th anniversary.
It will be the Duchess’s first to Jersey since she assumed her current title in 2023. She formerly visited Jersey with her husband as the Earl and Countess of Wessex in 2010, and subsequently for Liberation Day celebrations in 2015 and 2022.
