Nominated by: Roy McCarthy and Fiona Fauvel
A WOMAN who has turned her own health battles into years of fundraising for others has been nominated for the Volunteer/ Fundraiser of the Year award.
Nominators Roy McCarthy and Fiona Fauvel said Tracey Jeanne had shown extraordinary resilience and selflessness since being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007.
After undergoing a mastectomy, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and further surgery, Ms Jeanne returned to running, determined to help others facing similar challenges.
Through sponsored runs, quiz nights, raffles and other fundraising events, she has raised thousands of pounds for cancer charities. Despite later developing pneumonia, requiring major open-heart surgery and, more recently, having a pacemaker fitted, Ms Jeanne has continued to take on fundraising challenges.
She is now a committee member of Jersey Heart Support Group and has raised thousands more for heart charities.
Her determination was perhaps best demonstrated during the pandemic when the London Marathon was cancelled and she completed the full 26.2-mile distance around Jersey so that every sponsorship donation was truly earned.
Mr McCarthy and Ms Fauvel said Ms Jeanne’s courage, generosity and unwavering commitment to helping others made her a truly deserving nominee for the Volunteer/ Fundraiser of the Year award.
