Appeal to return life-saving defibrillator missing for three weeks

A DEFIBRILLATOR which could mean the difference between “life and death” in an emergency has been missing from its public-access cabinet for three weeks.
The device at the Co-op’s Maufant store was discovered to be missing on Sunday 19 July following an incident the previous day.
St John Ambulance Jersey has appealed for anyone with information about its whereabouts – or anyone who has the device – to come forward.
Chief executive Sarah Harman said: “This is incredibly disappointing. An automated external defibrillator can make the difference between life and death in a cardiac emergency, and every minute counts.
“We would urge anyone who has seen it, or who may have information about its whereabouts, to please come forward.
“If you have the device, please do the right thing and return it safely so it can once again be there for someone in their time of greatest need.”
The missing defibrillator is a Phillips automated external defibrillator contained in a green St John Ambulance case. Its serial number is B14G-02534.
The Co-op said it was in the process of replacing the device.
In a statement, it said: “We are aware that the defibrillator at Maufant has been removed from its box and are in the process of replacing the device.
“We understand the importance of having the defibrillators at our stores so if anyone has the device or has used it, if they could return it to the store it would be appreciated.”
