THE fiction events line-up for this autumn’s Jersey Festival of Words has been revealed.
It includes a number of celebrated authors coming to the Island for a “series of intimate and thought provoking conversations”.
On Wednesday 23 September, a headline double act British crime writers Mark Billingham and Jersey resident Peter James will take to the stage together at the Freedom Centre. Both recipients of the prestigious Diamond Dagger for lifetime achievement in crime writing, the pair will discuss where dark ideas are born and how a perfect twist is constructed.
The following evening, Patrick Gale will discuss his new novel Love Lane at the Freedom Centre. Revisiting characters from his Costa-shortlisted A Place Called Winter, the book features a story of escape, entrapment and what home and family can truly mean.
Also on the program is novelist Anna Stothard, appearing at Jersey Library on Friday 18 September to discuss her new novel Follow Her. For six months, she worked as a telephone psychic — despite being, by her own admission, not remotely psychic — and brings those insights to a story of a young woman drawn into an online wellness community that becomes a modern cult.
The festival, in its 11th year, will be running from 18 to 27 September, and is set to feature more than 90 events.
Tickets for each event can be found at jerseyfestivalofwords.org.
