Pétanque players help support blood cancer research

A RECORD 70 people took part in Jersey Friends of Anthony Nolan’s annual charity pétanque event earlier this month.

Held in partnership with the Jersey Pétanque Club, the event welcomed players of all ages and abilities, with many embracing the French theme by wearing Breton tops and berets.

Confirming that the event raised more than £1,400 to support the charity’s lifesaving research into blood cancer and blood disorders, organisers thanked everyone who attended, volunteered and donated to make it a success.

The event also celebrated the 30th anniversary of the Anthony Nolan Research Institute. Since it was established in 1996, the institute has helped improve the way stem cell donors are matched with patients, advanced understanding of transplant outcomes and supported research that has benefited patients around the world.
