Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo has underlined his side’s determination to make an impact when they face England in their second Group L fixture at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Black Stars head into the high-profile clash in a confident mood after opening their campaign with a narrow 1-0 win over Panama, secured by Caleb Yirenkyi’s stoppage-time strike.

Semenyo, who impressed enough to be named Man of the Match, suggested Ghana are ready to rise to the occasion against one of the tournament favourites.

“We want to prove a point. I’m just going to leave that message out there,” he told Sky Sports.

England, meanwhile, lead the group after a convincing 4-2 victory over Croatia in their opening match, setting up what is expected to be a decisive encounter at Gillette Stadium on June 23.

Ghana will round off their group-stage fixtures against Croatia four days later, with momentum already building inside the camp following their opening win.

With three points on the board, Carlos Queiroz’s side will be aiming to strengthen their position as they chase a first knockout-stage appearance since their historic quarter-final run at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
