Heart of Lions head coach Bashir Hayford has reflected on his team’s campaign in the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League, insisting that it has been very rough.

The experienced tactician and his Kpando-based outfit had a good start to the league season and looked on course to challenge for the title after the first 10 matches.

However, after Week 11, things became tough for the team, leading to a run of five games without a win.

Following the team’s 5-2 defeat to Medeama SC on Sunday, Bashir Hayford admitted that Heart of Lions have endured a very tough campaign this season.

“It has been very rough. At the time we played the 11th match, we were rubbing shoulders with Medeama, so we thought we were going to be contenders, but all of a sudden something set in and we lost five matches in a row, which pushed us down, and from there we struggled. We have learned a lesson, and we will make sure we improve,” the experienced coach said.

Ahead of the final weekend of the 2025/26 league campaign, Bashir Hayford is confident his side will escape relegation and is backing the team to come back stronger next season to compete with the top teams.
