Kofi is a really exciting player - HSV sporting director Claus Costa
· GhanaSoccernetHSV sporting director Claus Costa has described new signing Kofi Amoako as “a really exciting player” as the club completed its first move for the 2026/27 season.
Costa highlighted the midfielder’s blend of physical strength, athleticism, tackling ability, and intensity without the ball as qualities that suit HSV’s game plan.
He also praised Amoako’s composure in possession and tactical flexibility, noting that the young midfielder can contribute in several roles. According to Costa, HSV believe there is still plenty of room for the player to develop, which makes the signing even more attractive for the Bundesliga club.
“Kofi is a really exciting player – the combination of his physicality and athleticism, his strength in the tackle and his intensity without possession all fit our playing style extremely well. On top of that, he is good on the ball and tactically flexible,” said HSV sporting director Claus Costa. “We’re convinced he will add something to our game, while he also still has plenty of room to develop. We’re delighted to have been able to bring him to HSV.”
Amoako joins from SG Dynamo Dresden after a productive season in which he played 33 matches, scored once, and set up another goal.
The move also continues his rise through German football, following earlier spells at VfL Osnabrück and VfL Wolfsburg. For HSV, it is a signing that combines immediate utility with long-term potential.
