2026 World Cup Qualifiers: Otto Addo anticipates tough test against Chad
· GhanaSoccernetBlack Stars coach Otto Addo says his side is prepared for a difficult contest against Chad in Thursday’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier in N’Djamena.
Ghana go into the Group I clash as favourites, with Chad already eliminated after losing all six of their matches in the qualifiers. However, Addo believes playing away in Africa always comes with its challenges.
“We’re excited, looking forward to that match. We know it’s going to be tough to play away in Africa; it’s always tough. Now, also under these circumstances, it will be different because the players are not used to playing on artificial grass. But let’s see, I think we are mentally prepared,” Addo said after training.
The coach added that his players looked sharp in training and were ready to compete. “The boys look good and sharp on the pitch today. So, yeah, I’m looking forward to the match tomorrow.”
Thursday’s encounter will also mark Chad’s first home fixture in the qualifiers, having played all their previous games away from home. The hosts are expected to relish the chance of finally playing in front of their fans despite being out of contention.
