Mohammed Fuseini scores as Union Saint-Gilloise beat Anderlecht
· GhanaSoccernetGhanaian forward Mohammed Fuseini came off the bench to fire Union St.Gilloise to a dramatic 3–1 extra-time victory over Anderlecht in the Cup final at Stade Roi Baudouin.
With the tie locked at 1–1 after 90 minutes, Fuseini struck the crucial second goal in the 95th minute to tilt the final decisively in Union’s favour.
Kevin Mac Allister had opened the scoring on 74 minutes, only for Mihajlo Cvetkovic to level for Anderlecht seven minutes later and force extra time. Introduced late in normal time, Fuseini made his impact felt early in the additional period, finishing calmly to make it 2–1 and send the Union end wild. Moments later, Kevin Rodriguez added a third in the 100th minute to kill off any hopes of an Anderlecht comeback.
Union St.Gilloise’s energy and depth proved decisive as they created more chances and sustained pressure, registering 19 shots to Anderlecht’s 11. The Brussels side will now look to carry this momentum into their next Belgian Pro League Championship playoff fixture away to Club Brugge on Sunday, May 17.
