Assistant Black Stars coach Desmond Ofei says the playing body is highly motivated ahead of their friendly encounter against Mexico.

Ghana will play against the South American side as part of their preparations for the 2026 World Cup, slated for this summer in North America on May 22.

The technical team led by Carlos Queiroz has assembled a 23-man squad for the game.

Speaking to Flashscore, Ofei said they have assembled talented and ambitious players for the game.

According to him, the players are highly motivated ahead of the game.

"For the upcoming game against Mexico, we have selected a very talented and ambitious group of players from our local league, alongside some exciting U23 talents and players who are highly motivated to show their qualities to the nation and to our new head coach, Mr Carlos Queiroz," Ofei said.

After the game against Mexico, Ghana will wrap up their preparatory games against Wales on June 2.

The Black Stars, making their fifth appearance at the global tournament, have been housed in Group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia. The four-time African champions will open their campaign against Panama on June 17, before facing England on June 23 and Croatia on June 27.
