Ghana participates in FIFA kick-off meeting for Women’s Football Commercial Strategy Programme
· GhanaSoccernetThe Ghana Football Association has taken part in FIFA’s opening global session for the 2026 Women’s Football Commercial Strategy Programme, marking the official start of an initiative aimed at strengthening the financial foundations of the women’s game worldwide.
The virtual kick-off brought together all 12 selected Member Associations for this year’s programme and set out FIFA’s long-term blueprint for building commercially sustainable women’s football structures.
It also served as the formal introduction to a structured support system designed to help federations develop stronger revenue streams, attract investment and improve market visibility.
Ghana was prominently represented at the meeting, with officials from the GFA Women’s Football Desk, as well as members of its leadership and marketing departments, engaging in discussions on the programme’s framework, objectives and implementation roadmap.
The country’s inclusion carries added significance, as it remains the only African Member Association selected for this cycle.
The session focused on establishing a shared strategic direction, with emphasis placed on commercial planning, brand positioning and long-term sustainability.
FIFA outlined a phased approach that will guide participating associations through key development stages, including market assessment, goal setting, commercial strategy design and final peer review.
A key component of the programme is the assignment of dedicated FIFA Commercial Consultants to each federation, providing technical guidance throughout the process.
Participants will also benefit from structured workshops and peer-learning sessions designed to encourage collaboration and the exchange of best practices across continents.
The programme will run through seven phases between May and November 2026, beginning with the kick-off and culminating in an in-person peer review session.
Ghana’s next engagement is scheduled for 20 May 2026, when it meets its assigned FIFA Commercial Technical Expert, followed by a Situation Analysis session on 26 May 2026 as the process moves into its second phase.
