GFA confirms Black Challenge participation at WAFF World Cup 2026 in Mexico

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed that Ghana’s national amputee football team, the Black Challenge, will participate in the 2026 WAFF Amputee Football World Cup in Mexico.

The tournament will be staged in San Juan de los Lagos from November 13 to 22, 2026, and will feature 24 countries from across the world.

Ghana secured qualification for the expanded global tournament alongside six other African nations.

The GFA said it will continue working together with the National Amputee Football Association of Ghana and the Ministry of Sports and Recreation to ensure the Black Challenge are well prepared for the competition.

The Football Association also expressed appreciation to Gold Fields Ghana for its support towards the team’s preparations ahead of the tournament.

The Black Challenge will head into the competition aiming to build on their strong continental performances and compete among the world’s best amputee football teams.

The 2026 WAFF World Cup will bring together qualified teams from Africa, Asia, Europe and the Americas in what is expected to be one of the biggest amputee football tournaments in history.

African representatives at the tournament include Algeria, Angola, Egypt, Liberia, Morocco, Nigeria, and Ghana.
