Thomas-Asante hails Carlos Queiroz's influence as Black Stars step up World Cup preparations
· GhanaSoccernetGhana forward Brandon Thomas-Asante has praised Black Stars coach Carlos Queiroz, describing his experience under the Portuguese tactician as a “blessing” as the national team intensifies preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Queiroz, appointed on a short-term basis after replacing Otto Addo, is currently leading the squad in Cardiff ahead of their upcoming international friendly against Wales on June 2.
The team opened camp on Monday as they build momentum for the tournament in North America.
Speaking to Ghana FA Media, the Coventry City striker expressed his excitement about being part of the national setup and the opportunity to compete on football’s biggest stage.
“I’m happy to be here, and we definitely want to prepare in the right way to go and be successful. It’s always the biggest privilege (to play for Ghana).
"It’s something that since I was young…to believe that I was going to achieve it one day and now to be here is incredible.”
Thomas-Asante also highlighted the positive impact of Queiroz on the squad’s development.
“He [Carlos Queiroz] is a very good guy. All of us are listening to how he wants us to play and understanding his ideas. It’s been a blessing," he added.
The forward is expected to be included in Ghana’s final 26-man squad for the World Cup after making the provisional 28-man list.
He enjoyed a strong club campaign, scoring 13 goals and providing four assists in 34 appearances, playing a key role in Coventry City’s push for Premier League promotion.

They open their campaign against Panama on June 17 at BMO Field, before facing England on June 23 at Gillette Stadium and concluding the group stage against Croatia on June 27.
