“We can win” – Hamza Mohammed backs Tamale City ahead of promotion playoff against Debibi United

Tamale City FC head coach Hamza Mohammed believes his side has the mentality needed to secure promotion back to the Ghana Premier League.

The experienced coach expressed confidence ahead of Tamale City’s crucial Division One League playoff against Debibi United FC at the Accra Sports Stadium on Wednesday.

Despite Tamale City finishing the regular season with fewer points than their opponents, Hamza Mohammed insists his team are more than capable of winning the decisive encounter.

According to the coach, belief and mentality will play the biggest role in determining who secures the final promotion spot.

“We can win — it’s all about our mentality on the day,” Hamza Mohammed said.

Hamza also argued that Tamale City were tested throughout the season in what he described as the toughest zone in the Access Bank Division One League.

The club qualified from Zone One A with 55 points, while Debibi United topped Zone One B with 60 points.

However, the Tamale City coach believes that facing stronger opposition during the campaign has fully prepared his side for the playoff challenge.

The winner of Wednesday’s playoff will secure qualification to the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season.

Tamale City are hoping to make a quick return to Ghana’s top division, with Hamza Mohammed aiming to guide the club back to the elite level once again.
