2026 World Cup: We must have the right preparations – Black Stars coach Carlos Queiroz
· GhanaSoccernetGhana head coach Carlos Queiroz has stressed the importance of thorough and modern preparations as the Black Stars build up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
The four-time African champions are set to make their fifth appearance at football’s biggest stage, with Queiroz outlining a structured approach aimed at improving every detail of the team’s setup.
Ghana have been drawn in Group L, where they will face Panama, England, and Croatia in what is expected to be a highly competitive group.
Speaking on the Beyond The Whistle podcast, the former Manchester United assistant manager underlined the need for a comprehensive preparation model, pointing to key areas such as nutrition, fitness, physiotherapy, tactical discipline, and set-piece organisation.
“We have to put the right preparation in place — training, diet, nutrition, physios, fitness, and the details of set pieces,” Queiroz said.
The Black Stars will begin their World Cup campaign against Panama on June 17, before facing England on June 23 and Croatia on June 27.
As part of their build-up, Ghana are scheduled to play international friendlies against Mexico later this month and Wales on June 2, giving Queiroz further opportunity to assess his squad.
The Portuguese coach is expected to name his final World Cup squad on June 1 as preparations intensify ahead of the tournament.
