Funeral date set for Berekum Chelsea forward Dominic Frimpong after fatal attack

Funeral arrangements have been announced for Dominic Frimpong, the young player who featured for Berekum Chelsea and Aduana FC.

The final funeral rites will take place on Wednesday, 29 April 2026, at Assin Dansame in the Central Region. The Ghana Football Association has pledged its full support to the bereaved family during this period of grief.

The GFA is expected to be strongly represented at the ceremony, with members of its Executive Council, officials from the Central Region Football Association and other stakeholders in the football community set to attend. Family members, teammates and representatives from both clubs will also be present to pay their last respects.

Frimpong’s death has deeply affected the football fraternity. He lost his life following an attack by armed men while Berekum Chelsea were returning from a Premier League match against FC Samartex 1996.

The GFA has reiterated its commitment to working with relevant authorities and stakeholders to improve security measures for clubs and players across all competitions.

His passing has left a void within Ghana football, with tributes continuing to pour in ahead of his final burial.
