World Cup 2026: Ex-Black Stars defender Sam Johnson calls for support for Carlos Queiroz
· GhanaSoccernetFormer Ghana international Sam Johnson has urged Ghanaians to support Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz as he prepares the team for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
According to the former defender, the national team has improved already under the veteran Portuguese tactician, but can do better.
While he believes Ghanaians have the right to criticise, he wants the coach to be supported ahead of the difficult task that awaits the Black Stars at the World Cup.
“The Black Stars played better than in previous games, but they still need to learn more.
“Ghanaians have to leave the coach to do his job. All we have to do is support the team,” Johnson told KFMTV in an interview.
Carlos Queiroz played his first match as Black Stars head coach on June 2 in an international friendly match against Wales. He will play a second friendly with Honduras on June 9 before the Black Stars turn their attention to the World Cup.
At the tournament, Ghana will compete in Group L alongside Panama, England, and Croatia.
