GFA joins FIFA Women’s Football Commercial Strategy Programme as sole African representative
· GhanaSoccernetThe Ghana Football Association has participated in FIFA’s official kick-off meeting for the 2026 Women’s Football Commercial Strategy Programme.
The virtual meeting brought together representatives from the 12 Member Associations selected for this year’s programme, which aims to help federations develop sustainable commercial structures for women’s football.
Ghana is the only African Member Association selected for the initiative, with officials from the GFA Women’s Football Desk, leadership and marketing departments taking part in the discussions.
The programme is designed to strengthen the commercial growth and long-term financial sustainability of women’s football through strategic planning, sponsorship development and brand-building support.
During the session, participating associations discussed implementation timelines, commercial audits, sponsor prospectuses and strategies to improve the marketability of women’s football competitions.
Each federation will also receive support from a dedicated FIFA commercial consultant, while the programme will include workshops and peer-learning sessions among the participating associations.
For the GFA, the initiative is expected to support efforts to strengthen the Women’s Premier League and improve commercial opportunities for clubs, players and stakeholders in the women’s game.
The programme will run from May to November 2026 and will consist of seven phases, including situation analysis, commercial strategy development and a final in-person peer review session.
The GFA’s next engagement in the programme will be a meeting with the Commercial Technical Expert on May 20, followed by the Situation Analysis phase on May 26.
