Biiani GoldStars assistant coach insists title race still alive despite Medeama defeat

Bibiani GoldStars assistant coach Ernest Okyere has refused to throw in the towel in the Ghana Premier League title race, insisting his side can still overhaul leaders Medeama despite a 2-0 defeat at the TNA Stadium.

A brace from Salim Adams sealed a crucial win for Medeama, moving them five points clear of Gold Stars with four matches remaining. But Okyere saw positives in his team's performance and urged them to learn from the setback.

"Football is a 90-minute game, and whatever comes out of it, you need to accept and learn from it. Nothing went badly. My players proved we have revamped the team, and that impressed me a lot," he said after the match.

Okyere remains confident that the title race is far from over.

"The league is not over. We have four matches to go. They are five points ahead of us. There are 12 points in the four remaining matches. It means it's not over until it's over. We need to go back, and on Wednesday, we need to make amends and close the gap," he added.

Gold Stars now turn their attention to a crucial home fixture against FC Samartex at Duns Park as they look to keep their title hopes alive.
