2026/27 Women's Premier League to kick-off October 23

The 2026/27 Malta Guinness Women's Premier League (WPL) will kick-off on Friday October 23, 2026, the Ghana Football Association has  announced. 
The new campaign will kick off over the weekend of October 23–26, 2026, with fixtures taking place concurrently across the Northern and Southern Zones. The season is scheduled to run through to the weekend of April 30–May 3, 2027, setting the stage for months of intense competition and high-quality football.
Maintaining its established format, the league will feature 20 elite clubs divided evenly into two zones of 10 teams each. This structure continues to fuel strong regional rivalries while promoting competitive balance across the league.
The Women’s Premier League continues to gain momentum and recognition, bolstered by the support of headline sponsor Malta Guinness and key partners such as Nasco Electronics. Their backing has played a significant role in enhancing the league’s visibility and development in recent years.
The early announcement provides clubs and stakeholders with ample time to plan, reinforcing the GFA’s commitment to the growth and professionalization of the women’s game.
