World Cup 2026: Ati-Zigi hails Carlos Queiroz's influence on Black Stars
· GhanaSoccernetGhana goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi has praised Black Stars coach Carlos Queiroz, describing the Portuguese tactician as an experienced manager whose knowledge has been invaluable to the squad ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Queiroz was appointed just two months before the tournament after Otto Addo was dismissed following a run of poor results. Despite the limited preparation time, the former Portugal, Iran and Egypt coach has quickly set about instilling his ideas as Ghana prepares for the global showpiece.
Ati-Zigi said the players have embraced Queiroz's methods and are focused on putting his guidance into practice.
"He's a very experienced coach. He has a lot of information. We just have to take the good information he gives us and try to make use of it," the goalkeeper said.
The St. Gallen shot-stopper believes unity and commitment will be vital if Ghana are to enjoy a successful campaign.
"The expectation is teamwork. We're going to fight to the end. We're going to give it all and we hope that we'll make Ghanaians proud."
Ghana will begin their World Cup campaign against Panama on June 17 in Toronto before facing England on June 23 in Boston.
The Black Stars will round off their Group L fixtures against Croatia on June 27 in Philadelphia as they aim to reach the knockout stage for the first time since their run to the quarterfinals in 2010.
