Questions grow over Kwasi Sibo’s future after Real Oviedo relegation

The future of Ghana midfielder Kwasi Sibo has become a major talking point following Real Oviedo’s relegation from La Liga at the end of the 2025-26 season.

Oviedo’s drop to the Spanish Segunda Division has raised uncertainty over whether the 27-year-old will remain at the club ahead of next season.

Sibo joined Oviedo on July 4, 2024, after impressing at SD Amorebieta and quickly established himself as an important figure in the midfield.

Despite the club’s difficult campaign, the Ghanaian remained a regular presence in the squad and earned praise for his work rate and consistency throughout the season.

The midfielder is currently under contract with Oviedo until June 2026, but reports in Spain towards the end of 2025 suggested the club were considering discussions over a possible extension due to his performances.

However, Oviedo’s relegation could now change the situation, with uncertainty surrounding the club’s plans and Sibo’s own ambitions moving forward.

The Black Stars midfielder may now face a decision over whether to continue with Oviedo in the Segunda Division or consider opportunities elsewhere should interest emerge during the summer transfer window.

Sibo made 26 league appearances during the campaign as Oviedo struggled to maintain their place in the Spanish top flight following promotion last season.
