NAC Breda to part ways with André Ayew and Denis Odoi after Eredivisie relegation

NAC Breda have decided against triggering the second-year contract options for Ghana internationals André Ayew (Dede Ayew) and Denis Odoi following the club’s relegation from the Dutch Eredivisie.

This decision follows a difficult campaign that ended with the club finishing 17th in the 18-team table, sealing an immediate return to the second tier.

Both players arrived during the 2025-26 season, with Odoi signing in November 2025 and Ayew joining in January 2026 as a free agent after a spell without a club.

On the pitch, Odoi made 19 appearances for the Dutch side, providing experience in defence during a turbulent campaign, while Ayew featured 16 times and scored once after joining mid-season.

Despite their presence, NAC Breda were unable to avoid relegation as consistency and results proved difficult to sustain throughout the season.

NAC Breda’s decision effectively brings an end to both players’ short spells in the Netherlands, with the relegated club opting to reshape its squad ahead of the new campaign in the second division.

The pair, who were part of Ghana’s squad at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, remain in the national team conversation, with Ayew reportedly still in contention for a possible recall ahead of the 2026 tournament.
