Kwasi Sibo sent off as Real Oviedo suffer relegation from La Liga
· GhanaSoccernetGhana midfielder Kwasi Sibo endured a disappointing evening as Real Oviedo were officially relegated from La Liga following a goalless draw against Getafe.
Oviedo needed victory to keep their slim survival hopes alive, but the result condemned the club to bottom place in the 20-team league standings and confirmed an immediate return to the Spanish Segunda Division.
The situation worsened for Oviedo after two players were sent off during the match, including Sibo, who received a straight red card in the 78th minute.
The Black Stars midfielder was dismissed after catching an opponent high on the knee with his follow-through while attempting to clear the ball.
Sibo has featured regularly for Oviedo this season and has made 26 league appearances during the campaign.
However, the Ghanaian midfielder has yet to register a goal or assist this season.
Oviedo’s relegation brings a disappointing end to what initially appeared to be a promising campaign following their promotion to La Liga last season.
The Spanish side will now prepare for life back in the Segunda Division next season.
