I hope Black Stars perform well at 2026 World Cup - Kwadwo Asamoah
· GhanaSoccernetFormer Ghana international Kwadwo Asamoah has expressed cautious optimism about the Black Stars’ prospects at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, saying he hopes the team can put up a strong showing despite a challenging group.
Ghana, four-time African champions, have been drawn in Group L alongside England, Croatia and Panama as they prepare for their fifth appearance at football’s global showpiece.
Speaking in an interview with 3Sports, the former midfielder admitted expectations should be measured but insisted he is still rooting for a positive campaign.
“Honestly, I'm not expecting much, but I'm hoping for the best because Ghana has always been one of the favourites when it comes to the World Cup, among African teams, but it won't be easy,” he said.
The Black Stars will begin their campaign against Panama on June 17, before taking on England on June 23 and concluding their group-stage fixtures against Croatia on June 27.
Ahead of the tournament, Carlos Queiroz’s side will step up preparations with friendly matches against Mexico and Wales on June 2.
