Coach Charles Sampson is confident the Black Princesses are ready to rise to the occasion when they face Uganda in the final round of qualifiers for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

Ghana will host the first leg at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, May 3, with kickoff set for 15:30 GMT, as both sides battle for a place at the global tournament.

Sampson believes his team’s preparation has been thorough, with an extended training camp in Prampram giving the squad enough time to build cohesion and sharpen their approach ahead of the decisive fixture.

“Preparation has been good. We’ve had a lot of time in camp, so we can’t complain. We’ve been looking forward to this game, and now the time has come for us to go out and deliver,” he said.

The coach acknowledged the challenge posed by Uganda but insisted his side remains focused on achieving their objective.

“At this stage, it doesn’t matter who the opponent is. We want to go to the World Cup. Uganda have never been there, so they will come with a lot of desire, but it will come down to who wants it more and who performs better on the day,” he added.

Sampson also highlighted the impact of new additions to the squad, noting that increased competition has improved overall quality and raised standards within the team.

Despite missing key player Comfort Yeboah due to club commitments outside a FIFA window, the coach remains confident in the depth of his squad.

“We wanted her here, but it wasn’t possible. Still, we have a strong team capable of going all out and getting the result,” he said.

The Black Princesses will be aiming to secure a strong first-leg advantage in Accra as they push for qualification.
