Bashir Hayford open to continuing as Heart of Lions coach after difficult season

Heart of Lions head coach Bashir Hayford has indicated that he is willing to remain in charge of the club despite a challenging 2025/26 football season.

The Kpando-based side endured a difficult campaign in the Ghana Premier League, spending much of the season battling poor form and fighting to avoid relegation during the second half of the competition.

Their struggles continued on Sunday when they suffered a heavy 5-2 defeat against newly crowned champions Medeama SC in their penultimate league fixture.

Speaking after the match, the experienced tactician was asked whether he intends to continue as head coach next season.

“That’s the question we have to ask God. I wish. If God gives me the grace, why not?” Hayford said.

Despite the difficult season, Bashir Hayford remains optimistic about the future and believes the club has gained important lessons that could help them improve in the next campaign.

“We have learned a lesson, and we will make sure we improve,” he added.
