Ghana international Abdul Fatawu Issahaku has expressed his disappointment following Leicester City’s shock relegation to English League One.

The former Premier League champions endured a difficult campaign in the Championship, marked by inconsistency, missed opportunities, and a failure to maintain momentum at key stages of the season.

Despite the setback, the enterprising Ghanaian winger emerged as one of Leicester’s standout performers this term, registering nine goals and seven assists in the Championship as he continued to showcase his quality and attacking influence.

Taking to social media, the former Sporting CP winger shared his frustration over the club’s drop to the third tier of English football.

“Appreciate all the support from the beginning of the season,” he wrote. “It’s disappointing to finish the season at this level. It’s not what we work for and it’s not good enough,” he posted on Instagram.

Despite the disappointment, Issahaku remained optimistic about the future, insisting the team has the character to bounce back stronger.

“This club is amazing and I believe we’ll come back stronger,” he added.

Leicester’s relegation represents a major setback for the squad, but attention will now shift towards rebuilding ahead of next season, with key players like Issahaku expected to play a crucial role in their push for an immediate return to the higher division
