UG wins the 2026 Honda Football Championship

The University of Ghana (UG) entered the 2026 Honda Football Championship with a strong winning mindset. They stayed focused and determined from the group stage all the way to the final. University of Ghana (UG) won two out of three group matches, losing only to the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT) by a 2-1 score. After that setback, they moved on to the semi-finals and faced the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) in a tight game that ended 0-0 draw. UG kept their cool during the penalty shootout and won 4-1, earning a spot in the final.

Everyone expected the final against the University for Development Studies (UDS) to be tense, and it was. UG made their intentions clear right away. Mamudu Farouk, wearing number 11, scored in the first minute to give UG an early lead, from then on, University of Ghana (UG) kept up the pressure, working hard to extend their lead and defending strongly. UDS tried their best to equalize, but UG stayed organized and focused, not letting anything get past them. UG won 1-0 and became champions.
