Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo has admitted that their upcoming game against England will be tough, but stressed that they are determined and committed to winning.

The Black Stars opened their campaign at the 2026 World Cup with a hard-fought win against Panama at the BMO Field.

Caleb Yirenkyi scored in stoppage time to seal the win for Ghana despite the opposition dominating the game.

With the team now scheduled to take on the Three Lions on June 23 at Gillette Stadium, the 26-year-old said it will be a tough game, but insists they are aiming to secure all three points.

"We know it's going to be a tough game," he told the Ghana FA Media.

"I feel like we're not going to get ahead of ourselves. We know we want to win that game, but we know it's not going to be easy either.

"Make sure we recover well now and make sure we train well leading up to the England game.

Speaking about facing his Manchester City teammates, Semenyo said, "It's going to be different for sure. I'm looking forward to the challenge.

" I think everyone in the Ghana team is looking forward to it. We want to prove a point. I'm just going to leave that message out there," he added.

After the game against England, Ghana will wrap up their group-stage campaign against Croatia on June 27.

The four-time African champions will be targeting back-to-back positive results as they aim to reach the knockout stages of the World Cup for the first time since their memorable quarter-final run in 2010.
