Kotoko promote trio as youngsters join senior squad ahead of Dreams clash

Asante Kotoko have handed opportunities to three young players as they stepped up preparations for their Ghana Premier League fixture against Dreams FC in Accra.

Lawson Kyei-Manu, Abu Adams and Takyi Addison, all members of the club’s youth side, trained with the senior squad on Tuesday as the Porcupine Warriors look to reset after a difficult run.

Kotoko head into the game seeking a response following a heavy 4-0 defeat to Medeama SC in their last league outing.

The league had been on a two-week break due to FA Cup fixtures and a period of mourning for the late Dominic Frimpong, the Berekum Chelsea forward who died after an armed robbery attack on the team bus.

During the break, Prince Yaw Owusu stepped down as Kotoko head coach, with Hamza Obeng appointed to lead the team until the end of the season.

Obeng will take charge of his first match against Dreams FC, with Kotoko currently sixth on the table and their title hopes effectively over with five games remaining.

The inclusion of the young trio signals a shift in focus, as the club looks to give emerging talents a chance to impress in the final stretch of the season.
