'I learned a lot from Kwesi Nyantakyi' - Ibrahim Sannie Daara
· GhanaSoccernetIbrahim Sannie Daara has paid tribute to Kwesi Nyantakyi's leadership qualities, describing the former GFA president as an intelligent and inclusive decision-maker who valued opinions from everyone around him.
Speaking to Kafui Dey, the former Ghana FA Communications Director, said he learned valuable leadership lessons while working with Nyantakyi before the latter's exit from football administration in 2018.
"I learned a lot from Kwesi Nyantakyi," Daara said.
"He was a very, very good leader. He was smart, quiet, sharp, really, really brilliant."
According to Daara, one of Nyantakyi's greatest strengths was his willingness to seek different perspectives before making important decisions.
"He was open to listening to other people. He would ask, 'What do you think? What do you think?'"
Daara revealed that Nyantakyi even sought the opinions of staff members outside the football administration hierarchy.
"Sometimes he would even ask his driver, 'Do you think this decision we are making is good? What are people saying in town?'"
He added that Nyantakyi possessed an exceptional memory and rarely forgot important details.
"Something would happen today and you would think he had forgotten it, but he could recount it five years later and tell you exactly what happened."
Daara concluded by describing the former GFA president as "loyal to a fault."
Nyantakyi resigned from his football positions following the Number 12 investigation in 2018. He later received a FIFA ban, which was reduced to 15 years on appeal, while the related criminal case in Ghana was dismissed in 2025 after prosecutors failed to produce key witnesses.
