GoldStars assistant coach Ernest Okyere impressed despite defeat to Medeama
· GhanaSoccernetBibiani Gold Stars assistant coach Ernest Okyere has praised his players for their performance despite a 2-0 loss to Medeama SC in a crucial Ghana Premier League title clash at the TnA Stadium.
A brace from Salim Adams proved decisive as Medeama strengthened their grip on the league title, moving five points clear of Gold Stars with four matches remaining. However, Okyere remained upbeat about his side's display.
"Football is a 90-minute game, and whatever comes out of it, you need to accept and learn from it. Nothing went badly. My players proved we have revamped the team, and that impressed me a lot," Okyere said after the match.
The assistant coach refused to concede defeat in the title race, insisting there are still plenty of points to play for. "The league is not over. We have four matches to go. They are five points ahead of us.
There are 12 points in the four remaining matches. It means it's not over until it's over. We need to go back, and on Wednesday, we need to make amends and close the gap," he added.
Gold Stars will now turn their attention to a home fixture against FC Samartex as they look to keep their fading title hopes alive.
