The Ghana national team is set to receive a minimum of USD 12.5 million for participating in the expanded FIFA World Cup 2026, following a significant increase in financial distribution approved by FIFA.

The new financial package represents a USD 2 million rise from the previous allocation given to teams at the last World Cup, underlining FIFA’s commitment to enhancing support for participating nations.

Under the revised structure, each qualified team will receive USD 2.5 million as preparation funding, an increase from the earlier USD 1.5 million.

In addition, qualification bonuses have been raised to USD 10 million, up from USD 9 million. This brings Ghana’s guaranteed earnings to at least USD 12.5 million before any performance-related bonuses are factored in.

The improved financial backing is expected to significantly benefit the Black Stars’ preparations, covering logistics, training camps, travel, and other operational costs ahead of the global showpiece.

It also provides the Ghana Football Association with additional resources to strengthen technical and administrative planning.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino emphasized the organisation’s strong financial standing and its ability to reinvest in the game globally.

"FIFA is proud to be in its most solid financial position ever, enabling us to help all our Member Associations in an unprecedented way. This is one more example of how FIFA’s resources are reinvested back into the game."

The financial boost comes at a crucial time for Ghana as the four-time African champions aim to make a strong impact on the world stage.

Beyond the guaranteed participation fee, the Black Stars stand to earn additional prize money depending on their performance in the tournament.

The 2026 World Cup, which will feature 48 teams for the first time, is expected to be the most lucrative in history, offering participating nations like Ghana both financial rewards and a global platform to showcase their talent.
