World Cup 2026: It will not be easy but we are committed to make Ghana proud - Black Stars skipper Jordan Ayew
· GhanaSoccernetBlack Stars captain Jordan Ayew has acknowledged the scale of the challenge awaiting Ghana, while insisting the squad remains focused on delivering a performance that will make the nation proud.
Ghana’s national team, the Black Stars, have been drawn into a demanding Group L campaign alongside Panama, England and Croatia, setting up a high-stakes path to the knockout stages.
Speaking at a send-off event ahead of the team’s departure to Rhode Island, Ayew urged supporters to stand firmly behind the squad as they prepare for what he described as a difficult but motivating assignment.
"We have three massive games for us, and we want to make you guys proud, want to make Ghana proud," Ayew said.
"Obviously, it's not going to be easy, but with your prayers and your support, hopefully we'll be successful.
He added that the squad is fully aware of the expectations back home and is motivated to deliver a strong performance.
"We want to thank everyone for your support and keep on praying for us because we're here to make history," the former Leicester City forward said.
Ghana will open their campaign against Panama at BMO Field on June 17, before facing England at Gillette Stadium on June 23. Their final group-stage fixture comes against Croatia on June 27, in a decisive match that could shape their progression hopes.
