Hearts of Oak coach Didi Dramani praises execution after narrow win over Nations FC
· GhanaSoccernetHearts of Oak coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani has commended his players for executing their game plan perfectly after a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Nations FC in the Ghana Premier League.
Mawuli Wayo scored the decisive goal as the Phobians moved within two points of second-placed Bibiani Gold Stars, who lost 2-0 to leaders Medeama. Hearts now sit on 49 points, keeping their title hopes alive.
Speaking to the club’s media, Dramani acknowledged the challenge posed by Nations FC, describing them as a formidable side known for their direct and transitional style of play.
"Nations are one of the formidable sides in terms of their transitional play and direct football, so we really knew that we were going to deal with more of direct balls," Dramani said.
He explained that his team had prepared specifically to counter Nations FC's approach, which often bypasses build-up play to push balls in behind the defence.
"They don't build up most of the time from goal kicks; they just put the ball in behind and go in for the second balls. These were things we really worked on, and I think the boys did exactly what we expected," he added.
Despite the win, Dramani stressed the need for continued improvement, particularly in decision-making, as Hearts push for a strong finish to the season. Nations FC captain Razak Simpson missed a penalty in the defeat, which proved costly for the visitors.
