Fred Pappoe backs Carlos Queiroz to restore confidence in Black Stars
· GhanaSoccernetFormer Ghana Football Association vice president Fred Pappoe believes newly appointed Black Stars coach Carlos Queiroz is the right man to lead Ghana at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Speaking on Sporty FM, Pappoe said Ghana needed an experienced coach capable of restoring confidence within the national team ahead of the tournament.
“I think it’s about the best person because we find ourselves just about forty-three days away from the World Cup,” he said.
Pappoe noted that the Black Stars currently lack confidence after years of criticism and poor performances, adding that Queiroz’s experience and personality could help rebuild belief within the squad.
“He is the only coach with a pedigree who can step into the dressing room and inspire confidence from the players,” he added.
Queiroz has signed a four-month contract to lead Ghana at the World Cup in Canada and the United States.
Ghana have been drawn in Group L for the 2026 FIFA World Cup alongside England, Croatia, and Panama.
Black Stars will open their campaign against Panama on June 17, followed by fixtures against England and Croatia.
