Ghana-linked Nico Williams included in Spain's 2026 World Cup squad
· GhanaSoccernetSpain coach Luis de la Fuente has named Ghana-linked winger Nico Williams in his 26-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Athletic Bilbao star, whose parents are from Ghana, has retained his place despite concerns over a recent hamstring problem.
Williams, who was eligible to represent Ghana before committing his international future to Spain, is expected to play a key role as the European side target World Cup glory in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Williams heads to the tournament looking to add a World Cup title to an already impressive international career after establishing himself as one of Spain's most dangerous attacking players. He was one of their best players when they won the Euros in 2024.
Spain have also included injured Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal, who is recovering from a hamstring injury suffered in April.
One of the biggest talking points from the squad announcement is the absence of any Real Madrid players, marking the first time Spain have named a World Cup squad without a representative from the club.
Spain will begin their Group H campaign against Cape Verde on June 15 before facing Saudi Arabia and Uruguay.
