ELDEN RING Movie Set Videos Reveal First Look at Queen Marika and More

by · GeekTyrant

The world of Elden Ring is being brought to life in live-action for a big film project, and some more set photos and videos has arrived with some seriously cool reveals.

Fans have been eager to see how this massive fantasy universe translates to film, and now we’ve got our first real peek at key characters, including a striking look at Queen Marika.

Production on the film adaptation of the hit 2022 game from FromSoftware is underway, with A24 teaming up with DNA Films and Bandai Namco Entertainment.

Filming is taking place across the United Kingdom, including Scotland, with additional shoots expected in Iceland. The locations already hint at the kind of bleak, haunting beauty fans will recognize from the game.

The standout reveal from these early set leaks is Queen Marika, played by Emma Laird. She’s seen wearing the character’s iconic blue gown, moving with a calm, almost eerie presence toward something off-screen.

It’s a simple moment, but it captures the weight of the character. In the lore of Elden Ring, Marika is everything. A Numen god, the vessel of the Elden Ring, and the divine ruler of the Lands Between, she sits at the center of the entire mythos.

Seeing her brought to life like this gives the movie a sense of scale and seriousness that fans were hoping for. It suggests the filmmakers aren’t watering down the source material and are leaning into its strange, mythic tone.

Another familiar face from the game also shows up in these set videos. The Dung Eater, one of the more disturbing NPCs players encounter, appears hanging from a set of gallows while leaves blow across the scene.

It’s a grim visual that lines up perfectly with how unsettling the character is in the game. We’ve already shared that, but it’s cool to see that same energy being carried over into the film.

There’s also a quick glimpse of Kit Connor, who’s on set in a black jacket, casually smiling and interacting with people nearby. It’s not much in terms of character detail, but it confirms his presence as filming continues and adds to the growing excitement around the cast.

Speaking of which, the lineup for this movie also includes Ben Whishaw, Cailee Spaeny, Tom Burke, Havana Rose Liu, Sonoya Mizuno, Jonathan Pryce, Ruby Cruz, Nick Offerman, John Hodgkinson, Jefferson Hall, and Peter Serafinowicz.

Alex Garland is directing, known for projects like 28 Days Later, Civil War, Men, and Warfare. He’s also writing the script. On the producing side, George R.R. Martin, who helped shape the game’s world, is involved alongside Andrew Macdonald, Allon Reich, Peter Rice, and Vince Gerardis.

The movie is set to hit theaters on March 3, 2028, and it’s being shot with IMAX in mind, which makes sense considering the scale of this universe.

It’s still early days, but these first set looks already give off the right kind of vibe. If they can maintain this tone and fully embrace the weird, haunting nature of Elden Ring, this could end up being something really incredible.
